The Waking Words
It’s hard to say what the purpose of writing is. It can be a form of self expression, a persuasive essay, or its purpose could be solely being able to chat with someone over Facebook. There is no one right answer to this question – there are only different perspectives that somehow have managed to coexist in one world.
Surprisingly enough, I don’t have one purpose for my writing. Although the majority of my Word Documents are my own personal writing pieces, I’ve yet to find a single reason to write. But I find that this does not take away from the beauty of writing, but instead adds a mysterious lure to every letter… that is what I want for “The Waking Words” section – beautiful art, not because we feel we have to write, but because we can’t stop ourselves from doing it.
And so, The Yurt Alert is welcoming any and all Sharon Academy students to submit their own works of writing for publication. The Yurt Alert staff and I are hopeful that the birth of this new section will be the beginning of a long-lasting creative outlet for all students in our school community.

Poem of the Week: 09/26/13
Invictus
By William Ernest Henley Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. |
